Fast-growing, future-focused cities like San Jose, California are leading the way in harnessing the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart technologies to help them manage sustainability challenges. San Jose deployed a platform using Intel Gateway Solutions for the IoT with an Intel Quark processor and third-party sensors to provide real-time data on air quality, with plans to also measure water quality, noise, traffic, temperature and other quality-of-life metrics. Improvements in these systems promise to transform everyday life in U.S. cities and around the world. The joint project was showcased as part of the White House SmartAmerica Challenge.
