When is a keg not a keg? When it is a connected device in the Internet of Things. Using RFID tagging and sensors, this retail technology solution measures real-time consumption and temperature data for a beer keg. Data is sent through an intelligent gateway and then to the cloud. The solution provides data analytics to both the bar or restaurant, as well as to the beverage distributor by way of a smartphone/web application. Intel partnered with a company called SteadyServ on this solution.
