Today there are three types of internet: DSL, Cable, and Fiber. DSL is the most common type. DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. Your telephone lines are used to connect you to the Internet and allow the transferring of data throughout the network. Unlike a Cable network, the speed of your DSL connection is not affected by your neighbors using DSL, however the speed is affected by your home’s distance from your Internet Service Provider or ISP. Generally DSL is cheaper than cable, but has slower speeds. If all you do is browse the internet, then the speed from a DSL connection is fast enough.
