The Fluke 3550 FC Thermal Imaging Sensor allows maintenance and reliability teams to add remote thermal imaging technology to assets and minimize unnecessary time-based routes and maximize uptime. This sensor is the first thermal imaging condition monitoring sensor to visualize thermal patterns on multiple assets. Alarms can be set to notify the user when the center-point temperature exceeds preset thresholds.

Infrared images translate non-visible portions of the electromagnetic spectrum into thermal images and measurements. They can be used to find excess friction in motors or pumps, electrical build-up in equipment, heat-loss or moisture accumulation in structures, and more. Studying thermal images from handheld cameras or wireless sensors allows teams to see asset problems prior to a failure.

Viewing baselines on thermal images:
Find potential problems by comparing baseline thermal images to subsequent images. Common industrial complications that infrared imagery can bring to light include overheating components, obstructed airways, tank levels, or leaks in building envelopes.

Using colors to understand assets:
Infrared color palettes provide maintenance teams with differentiating information. Small variances in temperature are more easily seen in monochromatic palettes, while multi-color palettes identify leaks or indicate severity of hot/cold spots by hue.

Taking remote temperature readings
Assets experiencing mechanical or electrical issues typically generate excessive heat. The heat produced can damage electrical components, prematurely wear mechanical parts and make equipment consume more energy.
