Utilities are now in a constant mode of evolution, and their #cybersecurity requirements evolve at a similar pace. External factors such as distributed energy resources, pressure to adopt cleaner energy, and policies that encourage conservation demand change to how electric grids operate.

#Fortinet commissioned a cybersecurity study with the Utilities Technology Council (UTC) to understand the current state of cybersecurity among their member utilities. Cybersecurity technology and processes for OT environments have made tremendous progress in the past decade—but in the end, problems are solved by people, not technology. The more that cybersecurity can collaborate with the rest of the utility, the higher the probability of a strong and relevant cybersecurity program.
