Telefonica has served over 2.5 million FTTH users in Spain, accounting for 2/3 local FTTH market shares. These users enjoy 300 Mbps bandwidth at highest. Telefonica Spain plans to focus more on innovating services and improving user experience. Specifically, it is going to develop new services such as video, cloud, smart home, and virtual reality (VR) to enhance user experience and increase revenues. New services will prompt network technologies to evolve further. In the future, gigabit bandwidth will become the mainstream in Spain's markets, Telefonica Spain will choose XGS-PON to take over GPON, meeting residential users' gigabit ultra-broadband demands, and enterprises' access as well as 5G backhaul requirements.
