Nearly every communication service provider (CSP) worldwide faces the key strategic decision of whether to work with the public cloud hyperscalers or build their own telco cloud infrastructure. The answer is, “yes,” CSPs should do both. Public clouds may make sense for certain domains, use cases, and workloads, but CSPs must also build their own cloud infrastructure to retain leverage and maintain sufficient control over the strategic direction of their business.

To achieve success, CSPs must deploy tools and building-block technologies that help them overcome the economic, people, and process challenges that come with doing it themselves to efficiently and reliably manage the data center fabric at scale.
