This video describes the Allied Telesis Management Framework (AMF) and how this powerful suite of management tools can automate your everyday network administration tasks.

My name is Graham Walker. I'm a product manager with Allied Telesis in charge of new product development.

Today's networks are increasing in size and complexity. As well as the traditional desktop PC and its applications, people want to bring their own devices to work, and expect reliable network connections wherever they are inside the business premise.

This convergence of devices onto a single IP network can lead to an increase in costs in two ways. Firstly, the equipment costs can be increased due to the need for high availability networking, and secondly the increase in management costs that happen because of the time and expertise required to manage a more complicated environment. These are very real challenges for today's network administrators.

Allied Telesis has a practical solution that simplifies the everyday management of complex, modern networks - where the whole network is managed as a single virtual device.

Allied Telesis Management Framework, or AMF, is an intuitive solution for many network topologies and provides significant benefits for schools, campuses, healthcare networks or general business environments.

AMF can be overlayed on existing network infrastructure to reduce new equipment costs. And the automation of network management tasks leads to a reduction in costs of maintenance and support too.

There are some powerful key features of AMF that automate network administration. Firstly, centralised management treats the whole network as a single virtual device and automatically backs up the configuration and firmware of all switches. It allows commands to be run on multiple units at once so updating the network is simple and efficient. Imagine changing the network access security parameters of 20 edge switches just with one command.

Secondly, auto-upgrade allows the firmware updates to be rolled out to the entire network very simply. A single command will update units one by one to maximise network uptime and can even be scheduled overnight for minimal disruption.

Thirdly, auto-provisioning provides plug and play addition of new switches to the network where the new unit has a designation, firmware and similar configuration all provided by the network itself.

And fourthly, auto-recovery provides an effective solution to network unit failure that requires zero touch management and can be completed by non-skilled staff. When a replacement device is added to the network, it automatically receives the correct firmware and configuration for a seamless transition minimizing downtime.

All these powerful features in AMF automate everyday network management tasks.
Allied Telesis is providing next generation technologies to simplify today's complex networks.

AMF is available in the Switchblade and 'x' series switches.
